Gigi Hadid seems to be in a sharing mood lately. Not too long ago we found out that the famous supermodel was pregnant and expecting a baby, which she shared in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, but now she has treated her followers to a look at her brand new apartment, which she decorated.
She shared a bunch of photos from it on her Instagram and even posted a few videos to her stories, which, let’s be honest, is as close as we’re going to get to a custom home tour from Gigi.
Gigi Hadid says she designed everything herself in her New York apartment, sometimes with guidance from her mother. She captioned the photos saying that she actually spent most of 2019 designing her new home. It was her passion project and she wanted to make it her dream home.
Unfortunately for Gigi, she wasn’t able to move in right away as the apartment was completed just as we were all affected by the global Covid-19 pandemic and everyone went into quarantine. So Gigi chose to go and spend the quarantine with her mother and sister at their family farm in Pennsylvania. I mean, can you blame her? Who would want to spend months cooped up in an apartment, even if it’s a very nice apartment, when you have a farm.
But now that things have calmed down a bit in New York and the cases seem to be decreasing, Gigi is very excited to actually enjoy her beautiful new apartment. She said she is extremely grateful to have this special little home that was created with the help of some of her creative friends who took her seemingly crazy ideas and agreed with her vision.
She also mentioned that her mom, Yolanda Hadid, has been a big help, serving as a sounding board for Gigi’s ideas and helping her weed out the interesting and unique ones from the ones that are too crazy or ridiculous. Because we all need a mother who can reason with us and point us in the direction of crazy territory.
In the end, as you can see from the photos that Gigi shared, her apartment turned out to be quite colorful and full of life. None of that minimalist and monochrome stuff we’ve come to expect from celebrities like Kim Kardashian. No, Gigi chose to fully embrace color and unique quirks. Her home is a unique blend of style and aesthetics that are close to her heart and that show much of her interest.
As you can see, the apartment has a lot of yellow and orange decorations, from sofa cushions to paintings to a massive yellow pen next to the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, the walls there are decorated with pages from the New Yorker magazine, which definitely takes the idea of reading in the bathroom to a whole new level. We also love the small throw pillow on the Jean-Paul Gaultier sofa, such a small detail but such a sophisticated accent that speaks to Gigi’s taste in fashion.
We also noticed the irregularly shaped artwork painting in the living room by Austin, definitely a big feature in the living room area. There’s actually quite a bit of artistic stuff around the apartment and on the walls if you pay attention. We love the sign next to the bathroom that says all types of people are welcome and safe in this place. This is definitely something that shows Gigi’s views. We also noticed that the carpet on the stairs was incredibly colorful and bright and it almost looked like each step was different. The same goes for Gigi’s kitchen cabinets, which feature (non-edible) macaroni art in a different color on each cabinet.
Overall, the apartment feels like it was made just for Gigi, with her taste, and is meant to be her little corner of the world where she can relax and feel safe and at home.
